Mantova also referred to as Mantua is a city in the Lombardy region surrounded by three lakes and notable for its role in the history of opera being one of the settings for Romeo and Juliet.

On arrival yesterday, we checked into Residenza Accademia which albeit centrally located, we never would have found without the manager taking us there.

The bathroom on the other hand.

We then wandered around the cobblestoned streets to marvel at the architecture and food.

Food is a good segue to dinner which was at Scaravelli:Ristorante in the Piazza Erbe.

Primi Piatti was local dish bigoli di pasta fresca con salsiccia Mantovano e pomodoro or fresh bigoli pasta with sausage and a tomato sauce.

Jerrie: How is your dinner?

Nigel: Whenever I see breadsticks, I think of the Australian GST case.

Jerrie: Che cosa?

Nigel: Bread is GST-free, however biscuits attract GST. The question becomes whether breadsticks constitute bread or biscuits for the purpose of GST.

Jerrie: Lawyers.

Nigel: You are one too.

Jerrie: Lawyers must always have the last say.

Nigel: Case closed.
