That Melbourne is a melting pot of cultures through its culinary destinations is evidenced by this Ethiopian restaurant on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy offering traditional cuisine prepared by an Āyatē or grandmother and experienced by patrons in a sophisticated setting including imported artwork, trinkets and tableware.

Ethiopian food is characteristically comforting and spicy and true to form the menu has dishes such as Samosa pastries filled with lentils; a Qimsha selection of Kitfo beef tartare, Ayeb cottage cheese and kale; goat Fiyel Wot stew; Tibs of lamb sautéed in garlic, clarified butter, tomatoes and jalapenos and accompanied by Injera flatbread made from fermented teff flour.

Currently open for dinner from Thursdays to Sundays, watch this space for Ethiopian beer tasting events and cooking classes to name a few.
